Walk Through The Bible
Bible Study SeriesWalk Through The Bible Programme moves on to The Apocrypha
On Tuesday 5th September 2006, the Parish of St. Barnabas Walk Through The Bible Programme moved into another gear as the ecumenical bible study group was introduced to the 15 Books of the Apocrypha. For the past five and a half years on Tuesday evenings, the group has been going through the Old Testament chapter by chapter, and completed that phase at the end of July 2006. After a short break, members came prepared with their bibles on Tuesday 5th September 2006 to begin this exciting journey through the fifteen books of the Apocrypha.
“The pews are filling up, and it is good to see people taking the word seriously.” “Would not miss this for anything!” “This is really exciting.” “I was taught in Sunday School that there were only sixty-six books in the Bible. This is really an eye opener”. “Great introduction to the history of how our scriptures came into being.” These are but a few of the comments from members of the group made up of Anglicans, Roman Catholics, Baptists, Brethren, and members of the Church of God.
The 250 plus participants intend to make their way through the Apocrypha and then on to the New Testament.
The sessions, which are held every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Barnabas Parish, are conducted by Canon Basil Tynes, Rector of St. Barnabas Parish, and are opened to all who are interested in an in depth study of the Bible to assist them in their spiritual walk.
